Linda Long
Linda Long has served as Director of Communications and Marketing for Sight Savers America since 2007 bringing to the position a background in both print and broadcast media as well as non-profit promotion and special event planning and implementation.
Linda previously worked as news and special projects producer for NBC 13 News where her work won national, regional and state honors including, two Emmy Award nominations for producing Great Expectations, a series of programs based on education reform in Alabama. She also received two Emmy award nominations for Best News Series and a regional Emmy for Best Newscast. The American Pediatric Society honored her work with an award for writing and producing KidCheck, nationally syndicated program focused on children’s health issues.
Linda’s work also included a short stint in politics when she worked as press secretary for a national senatorial candidate. That was followed by a career as Birmingham Correspondent for the Huntsville times where she specialized in political coverage of state candidates.
Her nonprofit work includes eleven years as Marketing Director at American Village where she led efforts in winning the 2000 Alabama Governor’s Tourism Award and the 2003 “Attraction of the Year” Award.
Linda’s writings are published in Business Alabama Magazine, Technology Alabama, Mobile Bay Monthly, Birmingham News, Partners Magazine, Birmingham Magazine, Alabama Alive, Cahaba Talk, and Hoover Outlook. She was recognized by the Public Relations Council of Alabama for “Excellence in Feature Writing.”
Linda is a graduate of Samford University with majors in Journalism and English.
